James 2:1-4 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (6/28/2019)...

“When you go in search of honey you must expect to be stung by bees.”
Kenneth Kaunda

James‬ ‭1:2-4‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

Philippians 3:12-14 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (6/27/2019)...

“Go as far as you can see; when you get there, you’ll be able to see farther.”
J. P. Morgan

Philippians‬ ‭3:12-14‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

Luke 5:36-38 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (6/26/2019)...

“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.”
Maria Robinson

‭‭Luke‬ ‭5:36-38‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Then Jesus gave them this illustration: “No one tears a piece of cloth from a new garment and uses it to patch an old garment. For then the new garment would be ruined, and the new patch wouldn’t even match the old garment. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the new wine would burst the wineskins, spilling the wine and ruining the skins. New wine must be stored in new wineskins.”

Unknown

Psalms‬ ‭147:3‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.

Proverbs 15:22 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (6/24/2019)...

“Those who think [everyone] should walk in lockstep on all matters don’t seem to realize that disagreement and discussion almost always lead to better insight and understanding.”
James R. White

Proverbs‬ ‭12:15‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others.

Proverbs‬ ‭15:22‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Plans go wrong for lack of advice; many advisers bring success.

Psalms‬ ‭1:1-3‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.

Proverbs 11:1-7 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (6/21/2019)...

“Greatness is not found in possessions, power, position, or prestige. It is discovered in goodness, humility, service and character.”
W. Ward

Proverbs‬ ‭11:1-7‬ ‭(NLT‬‬)
1 The Lord detests the use of dishonest scales, but he delights in accurate weights.
2 Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.
3 Honesty guides good people; dishonesty destroys treacherous people.
4 Riches won’t help on the day of judgment, but right living can save you from death.
5 The godly are directed by honesty; the wicked fall beneath their load of sin.
6 The godliness of good people rescues them; the ambition of treacherous people traps them.
7 When the wicked die, their hopes die with them, for they rely on their own feeble strength.
Colossians‬ ‭3:12‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
‭‭
Psalms‬ ‭37:23-24‬ ‭NLT‬‬ The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.

Nehemiah 4:6 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (6/20/2019)...

“It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things.”
Elinor Smith

Nehemiah‬ ‭4:6‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬) So we built the wall, and the entire wall was joined together up to half its height, for the people had a mind to work.

Psalm 32:8-11 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (6/19/2019)...

“Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations.”
unknown

Psalms‬ ‭32:8-11‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. Do not be like a senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control.”
Many sorrows come to the wicked, but unfailing love surrounds those who trust the Lord. So rejoice in the Lord and be glad, all you who obey him!
Shout for joy, all you whose hearts are pure!

Philippians 2:1-5 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (6/18/2019)...

“The greatest discovery of my age is that [people] can change their circumstances by changing the attitude of their mind.
William James

Philippians‬ ‭2:1-5‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.
Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.

1 John 2:15-17 (15-17)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (6/17/2019)...

“You will never influence the world by being just like it.”
unknown

‭‭1 John‬ ‭2:15-17‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.

FROM TODAY’S READING (6/14/2019)...

Harvey MacKay

John‬ ‭9:4‬ ‭(NIV‬‬) As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.

Eckhart Tolle

Matthew 7:24-27 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (6/11/2019)...

“Jesus will either be for you a stumbling stone or a rock you build your house on.”
Pastor Robert Morris

Matthew‬ ‭7:24-27‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.

1 Chronicles 29:13-15 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (6/10/2019)...

“Life is too short to wake up with regrets. So love the people who treat you right. Forget about those who don’t. Believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would most likely be worth it.”
Harvey MacKay

1 Chronicles‬ ‭29:13-15‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) O our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name! But who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to you? Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you first gave us! We are here for only a moment, visitors and strangers in the land as our ancestors were before us. Our days on earth are like a passing shadow, gone so soon without a trace.

FROM TODAY’S READING (6/5/2019)...

“When you start for your day, always remember 3 words:
Try: for success.
True: to your work.
Trust: in God.”
Fritz Chery

‭‭3 John‬ ‭1:2‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.

James 1:22-25 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (6/4/2019)...
“Do not write a check with your tongue that your actions cannot cash.”
John Maxwell
James‬ ‭1:22-25‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.

Colossians 3:1-4 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (6/3/2019)...

“Our great object in time is not to waste our passions and gifts on the things external that we must leave behind, but that we cultivate within us all that we can carry into the eternal progress beyond.” Bulwer

Colossians‬ ‭3:1-4‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.
