Joshua 1:8-9 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (9/27/2019)...

“A Bible which is falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t!”
Charles H. Spurgeon (1834-1892)

Joshua‬ ‭1:8-9‬ ‭(NLT‬) Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
‭‭
Psalms‬ ‭119:105‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.

Hebrews 12:1 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (9/26/2019)...

“I’ve learned that making a ‘living’ is not the same thing as making a life. I’ve learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance. I’ve learned that you shouldn’t go through life with a catcher’s mitt on both hands; you need to be able to throw some things back.”
Maya Angelou

Hebrews‬ ‭12:1‬ ‭(NIV‬‬) Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles...

FROM TODAY’S READING (9/25/2019)...

“Failure is more frequently from want of energy than want of capital.”
Daniel Webster (1782-1852)

Proverbs‬ ‭21:25‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Despite their desires, the lazy will come to ruin, for their hands refuse to work.
‭‭
Proverbs‬ ‭19:15‬ ‭(NLT) Lazy people sleep soundly, but idleness leaves them hungry.

Proverbs 4:23-27 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (9/24/2019)...

“He who is silent is forgotten;
he who abstains is taken at his word;
he who does not advance falls back;
he who stops is overwhelmed, distanced, crushed;
he who ceases to grow greater becomes smaller;
he who leaves off, gives up;
the stationary condition is the beginning of the end.”
Henri Frédéric Amiel

Proverbs‬ ‭4:23-27‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.
Avoid all perverse talk; stay away from corrupt speech.
Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you.
Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path.
Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil.

Philippians‬ ‭3:13-14‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

Philippians 3:7-9 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (9/23/2019)...

“Reports that say that something hasn't happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns—the ones we don't know we don't know.”
Donald Rumsfeld (US Secretary of Defense)
February 12, 2002

Philippians 3:7-9 (NLT) Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith.

‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:12-15‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life. I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life. And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.

Proverbs 12:25 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (9/20/2019)...

“Worry is a thin stream of fear trickling through the mind.  If encouraged, it cuts a channel into which all other thoughts are drained.”
Arthur Somers Roche

Proverbs‬ ‭12:25‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up.

1 Peter‬ ‭5:6-9‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are.

Hebrews 12:1-4 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (9/19/2019)...

“The problem with putting it all on the line is that it might not work out. The problem with not putting it all on the line is that it will never (ever) change things for the better. Not much of a choice, I think.” Seth Godin

Hebrews‬ ‭12:1-4‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up. After all, you have not yet given your lives in your struggle against sin.
‭‭
Isaiah‬ ‭40:28-29‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.

Proverbs 3:3-4 (NIV)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (9/18/2019)...

“The Lord doesn’t ask about your ability, only your availability; and, if you prove your dependability, the Lord will increase your capability.”
Neal Maxwell

Proverbs‬ ‭3:3-4‬ ‭(NIV‬‬) Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.

Luke‬ ‭16:10‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.

Proverbs 11:3 (ESV)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (9/17/2019)...

“The slow person with integrity will ultimately catch the swift one who has none.”
Unknown

Proverbs‬ ‭11:3‬ ‭(ESV‬‬) The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them.
‭‭
Proverbs‬ ‭19:1‬ ‭(ESV‬‬) Better is a poor person who walks in his integrity than one who is crooked in speech and is a fool.
‭‭
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭9:24-27‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.

1 Peter 3:18 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (9/16/2019)...

“When you stand before God, you won’t be judged for the last thing you did before you died. You will be judged for the last thing Jesus did...He died for your sin.”
Pastor Greg Laurie
Harvest Christian Fellowship
Riverside, California

‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭3:18‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit.

Jeremiah 29:11-13 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (9/13/2019)...

“Keep believing that God is up to something, even if you can’t see it yet. After all, God’s purpose for our lives often leads us through the valley to refine us.”

Action step: “If you’re in the heart of a bad situation, take a moment to pray about it and look for opportunities that God may have for you. Take stock of how God is using this tough time to change you.”
John Upchurch (Sr. Editor for biblestudytools.com)

Jeremiah‬ ‭29:11-13‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.

Proverbs 14:14-16 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (9/12/2019)...

A CHURCH SIGN...
Gradually, the unthinkable...
Becomes tolerable,
Then acceptable,
Then legal,
Then praised.

Proverbs‬ ‭14:14-16‬ ‭(NIV‬‬) The faithless will be fully repaid for their ways, and the good rewarded for theirs. The simple believe anything, but the prudent give thought to their steps. The wise fear the Lord and shun evil, but a fool is hotheaded and yet feels secure.

Ephesians 4:30-32 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (9/10/2019)...

“When people hurt you, abuse you, insult you, devalue you, discourage you, shame you or humiliate you, don’t react in pain. Pause and respond.  Respond with Love, Faith and victory. The devil wants you to react, don’t let him have a shout.”
Kenneth Justin

Ephesians‬ ‭4:30-32‬ ‭hNLT‬‬) And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.
Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
‭‭
James‬ ‭1:19-20‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires.

Hebrews‬ ‭12:14-15‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord. Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.

Matthew 10:29-31 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (9/9/2019)...

“The real measure of our wealth would be how much we are worth if we lost all our money.”
J. H. Jowett (1863-1923)

Matthew‬ ‭10:29-31‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.
‭‭
Proverbs‬ ‭3:3-4‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation.

Proverbs 28:6 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (9/6/2019)...

“Greatness is not found in possessions, power, position, or prestige. It is discovered in goodness, humility, service and character.”
William Arthur Ward

Proverbs‬ ‭28:6‬ ‭(ESV‬‬) Better is a poor man who walks in his integrity than a rich man who is crooked in his ways.
‭‭
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭8:21‬ ‭(ESV‬‬) ...for we aim at what is honorable not only in the Lord's sight but also in the sight of man.

FROM TODAY’S READING (9/5/2019)...

“One never learns by success. Success is the plateau that one rests upon to take breath and look down from upon the straight and difficult path, but one does not climb upon a plateau.”
Josephine Preston Peabody

James‬ ‭1:2-4‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

Philippians 4:12-13 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (9/4/2019)...

“Determine to be something in the world, and you will be something. ‘I cannot,’ never accomplished anything; ‘I will try,’ has wrought wonders.”
J. Hawes

Philippians‬ ‭4:12-13‬ ‭(NLT‬‬)‭‭ I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
Apostle Paul

Proverbs 24:30-34 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (9/3/2019)...

“There is a close connection between getting up in the world and getting up in the morning.”
‭‭Unknown

Proverbs‬ ‭24:30-34‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) I walked by the field of a lazy person, the vineyard of one with no common sense. I saw that it was overgrown with nettles. It was covered with weeds, and its walls were broken down.
Then, as I looked and thought about it, I learned this lesson: A little extra sleep, a little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber.

Proverbs 13:4 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY’S READING (9/2/2019)...

HAPPY LABOR DAY

“Without ambition one starts nothing. Without work one finishes nothing. The prize will not be sent to you. You have to win it.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Proverbs‬ ‭13:4‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper.

Proverbs‬ ‭14:23‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Work brings profit, but mere talk leads to poverty!
‭‭
‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭4:11-12‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before. Then people who are not believers will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others.
