Philippians 2:14-15 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY'S READING (8/31/2018)...

"If you have time to whine and complain about something then you have the time to do something about it."

Anthony J. D’Angelo

Philippians 2:14-15 (NLT) Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.

Ephesians 4:29 (NLT) Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.

Psalm 51:10 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY'S READING (8/30/2018)...

"If an egg is broken from outside force – A life ends. If an egg breaks from within – A life begins. Great things always begin from within."

Anonymous

Psalms 51:10 (NLT) Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.

Proverbs 4:23 (NLT) Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

Matthew 15:17-19 (NLT) Anything you eat passes through the stomach and then goes into the sewer. But the words you speak come from the heart—that’s what defiles you. For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander.

John 6:26-27 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY'S READING (8/29/2018)...

“The greatest enemy of hunger for God is not poison but apple pie.

It is not the banquet of the wicked that dulls our appetite for

heaven, but endless nibbling at the table of the world."

John Piper

John 6:26-27 (NLT) Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, you want to be with me because I fed you, not because you understood the miraculous signs. But don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given me the seal of his approval.”

Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY'S READING (8/28/2018)...

"I don't claim anything of the work. It is his work. I am like a little pencil in his hand. That is all. He does the thinking. He does the writing. The pencil has nothing to do with it."

Mother Teresa

Ephesians 2:10 (NLT) For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Philippians 2:12-13 (NLT) Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

Romans 12:17-21 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY'S READING (8/24/2018)...

"All blame is a waste of time. No matter how much fault you find with another, and regardless of how much you blame him, it will not change you."

Wayne Dyer

Romans 12:17-21 (NLT) Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.

Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the Lord.

Instead, “If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals of shame on their heads.”

Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.

Proverbs 24:16 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY'S READING (8/23/2018)...

“If we are obsessed with winning, we’ll do anything to win. It’s better to lose the game, learn where we could be better, and come back again, again and again.”

Simon Sinek

Proverbs 24:16 (NLT) The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked.

Philippians 3:12-14 (NIV) Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Isaiah 40:28-31 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY'S READING (8/22/2018)...

“I’m amazed how many people need permission to get started, but nobody needs permission to quit.”

Erwin McManus

Isaiah 40:28-31 (NLT) Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

Hebrews 12:1-4 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY'S READING (8/21/2018)...

"He who has a why can bear any how."

Dr. Jordan Peterson (12 Rules For Life)

Hebrews 12:1-4 (NLT) Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up. After all, you have not yet given your lives in your struggle against sin.

Romans 1:16-17 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY'S READING (8/20/2018)...

"Like the arch which grows stronger precisely by [force] of the weight you place upon it, so the story of the Gospels bears, with reassuring strength, the devotion of the centuries to Jesus as the Christ. What is music, asked Walt Whitman, but what awakens within you when you listen to the instrument? and Jesus is the music of the reality of God, and faith is what awakens when we hearken."

Kenneth Cragg (unpublished sermon, "Who Is Jesus Christ?")

Romans 1:16-17 (NLT) For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile. This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life."

Philippians 2:3-11 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY'S READING (8/17/2018)...

"Some people are born on third base and go through life thinking they hit a triple."

Unknown Author

Philippians 2:3-11 (NLT) Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.

You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.

Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 3:13-14 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY'S READING (8/16/2018)...

"Don't let a hard lesson harden your heart. Life's best lessons are often learned at the worst times and from the worst mistakes. There will be times when it seems like everything that could possibly go wrong is going wrong. And you might feel like you will be stuck in this rut forever, but you won't. When you feel like quitting, remember that sometimes things have to go very wrong before they can be right. Sometimes you have to go through the worst, to arrive at your best."

Unknown Author

Philippians 3:13-14 (NLT) No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

2 Chronicles 15:7 (NLT) But as for you, be strong and courageous, for your work will be rewarded.

Joshua 1:9 (NLT) This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

John 3:18-21 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY'S READING (8/15/2018)...

"Wherever there's light, there's bugs."

H. A. Ironside

John 3:18-21 (NLT) There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son. And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.

Colossians 3:23-24 (NLT)...

FROM TODAY'S READING (8/14/2018)...

“Dad didn’t care if I was a plumber or an actor. He said, ‘Whatever you do, just do it well. Be humble about what you do, be a good guy and tell the truth..."

Scott Eastwood (son of actor/director Clint Eastwood)

Colossians 3:23-24 (NLT) Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 (NLT) Whatever you do, do well. For when you go to the grave, there will be no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom.
