James‬ ‭1‬:‭22‬-‭25‬ ‭(NLT‬‬)

FROM TODAY'S READING...

“I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do.”
Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519)

James‬ ‭1‬:‭22‬-‭25‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.

‭‭

James‬ ‭3‬:‭13‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom.

1 Timothy‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭4 ‭(NLT‬‬)

FROM TODAY'S READING...

"Elections belong to the people. It's their decision. If they decide to turn their back on the fire and burn their behinds, then they will just have to sit on their blisters.”

Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865)

16th president of the United States (1861–65)

1 Timothy‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭4 ‭(NLT‬‬) I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.

Titus‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬-‭2 ‭(NLT‬‬) Remind the believers to submit to the government and its officers. They should be obedient, always ready to do what is good. They must not slander anyone and must avoid quarreling. Instead, they should be gentle and show true humility to everyone.

Galatians‬ ‭5‬:‭13‬, 16-17, 25 (NLT‬/NIV)

FROM TODAY'S READING...

“There are two freedoms—the false, where a man is free to do what he likes; the true, where a man is free to do what he ought.”

Charles Kingsley (1819-1875)

Anglican clergyman

Galatians‬ ‭5‬:‭13‬, 16-17, 25 (NLT‬/NIV) For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love...So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions...Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

Ephesians 1:13 (NLT)

FROM TODAY'S READING...

Ephesians‬ ‭1‬:‭13‬ ‭(NLT‬‬)...And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own...

John 3:16-17 (NLT) For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.

Romans‬ ‭10‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.

Ephesians‬ ‭4‬:‭29‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.

2 Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭(NLT‬‬)

FROM TODAY'S READING...

“A man who cannot climb a tree will boast of never having fallen out of one.”

Ludwig Klages (1872-1956)

German philosopher, psychologist, graphologist,

poet, writer, and lecturer

2 Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) As the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the Lord.” When people commend themselves, it doesn’t count for much. The important thing is for the Lord to commend them.
