James 4:7-10 (NLT)

FROM TODAY’S READING (8/3/2020)...

“James has been crying out against the sins of the saints. His words have pierced our hearts like arrows of conviction. They have fallen like thunderbolts from the throne of God. We realize that God has been speaking to us. Our hearts have been bowed beneath the influence of His word. But the question now is, ‘What shall we do?’”

Wm MacDonald (1917-2007)

SIX STEPS TO TRUE REPENTANCE (James 47-10)...

  1. Submit to God (7).
  2. Resist the devil (7).
  3. Come close to God (8).
  4. Confess and forsake sins (8).
  5. Embrace sincere sorrow for personal sins (9).
  6. Humbly accept God’s forgiveness and guidance (10).

James‬ ‭4:7-10‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) 7. So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8. Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. 9. Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy. 10. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.
