Luke 8:19-21 (NLT)

FROM TODAY’S READING (3/22/2022)…

“Attention to God’s Word must be coupled with a willingness to do it, or the truth of it will fade.

Has God’s Word impressed on you that you must forgive? Then do it!

Has God’s Word impressed on you that you must confess a wrongdoing? Do it!

Has God’s Word impressed on you that you must apologize? So do it!

Has God’s Word impressed on you that you must speak the truth regardless of the consequences? Then do it!

Has God’s Word impressed on you that you must discontinue a certain practice? Do it!”

R. Kent Hughes

Luke, Vol. 1

Luke‬ ‭8:19-21‬ ‭(ESV‬‬) Then his mother and his brothers came to him, but they could not reach him because of the crowd. And he was told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, desiring to see you.” But he answered them, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it.”

James‬ ‭1:22-25‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.
