FROM TODAY'S READING...
NOTE: Barlow North (1810-1875) was born into an upperclass English family and lived a self-indulgent life. At age forty-five he suffered a major health scare that led to his making a sincere commitment to Jesus Christ. The rest of his life was dedicated to preaching and evangelism. He was described as the John the Baptist of the great awakening.
The upcoming FTR quotes are from Barlow North's "Six Short Rules For Christians"...
#1: Never neglect daily private prayer; and when you pray, remember that God is present, and that He hears your prayers.
Hebrews 11:6 (NLT) And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
1 John 5:14 (NLT) And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.
1 Chronicles 16:10-11 (NLT) Exult in his holy name; rejoice, you who worship the Lord. Search for the Lord and for his strength; continually seek him.
Psalms 19:14 (NLT) May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
